Water
Water service is provided by California Water Service (Cal Water), a private utility company. To start or cancel service, or to report a problem call: (650) 343-1808

Gas and Electric
Gas and electric services are provided by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), a private utility company. For 24 Hour Emergency or for Customer Service, call: 1-800-743-5000. You may call this number to report an emergency, such as a tree limb fallen onto an electrical line. For 24 Hour information on electrical outages, call: 1-800-743-5002. For the location of underground facilities, call: 1-800-227-2600.

Garbage
Residential and commercial garbage collection services are provided by Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI), a private company. All properties in San Mateo must have BFI-provided garbage service. To start or change service, or to report a problem with your service, call: (650) 592-2411 Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Recycling
Residential and commercial recycling service is provided by Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI), a private company. For information on recycling options in San Mateo, call:
(650) 637-1411 Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Recyclable materials may also be brought directly to the San Carlos Transfer Station.

For information on the countywide recycling efforts, as well as what, where, and how you can recycle, call or visit San Mateo County Recycleworks at (888) 442-2666, or visit their website at www.recycleworks.org.

Sewer
The City provides sanitary sewer service to all San Mateo residents. There is no need to call to begin service. Fees for service are based on water consumption, and are charged annually on your property tax bill. For more information regarding the sewer service fee, call: (650) 522-7325 Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
