FAQ

  • What is your privacy policy on email addresses?
You can use our "Join our Mailing List" box to add your email to our list.   You will then be prompted to add other information. You can also edit your other information. We will not ever disclose any of this information to third parties. We will only use this information for Board communications.  We occasionally find it useful to have phone numbers to call about a street tree placement or neighborhood watch.

We use a secure site to manage our email list.  They use "Safe Unsubscribe" if you ever want to be removed from our email list.

  • Who gets to decide what trees go on the street in front of my house?
The City of San Mateo has an easement right to the planting strip in front of your home.  The city is responsible for the maintenance of the trees and the selection of new trees when needed.

The Association supports the city in maintaining the master plan while being sensitive to homeowner questions and concerns.
  • Why is my SMPA newsletter addressed to "Current Resident" when the association has my name and address information on file?
We send all of our membership mailings addressed to "Current Resident" because it ensures that the post office will not forward or return the item in the event that the home changes hands.  This also simplifies the updating of our mailing list and saves time for our volunteers who process mailing information.
