Supporting public schools is always a worthwhile endeavor, but supporting Park School helps our neighborhood in very specific ways, by building community and directly enhancing property values. A strong neighborhood school is one of the most important factors in attracting families to any particular neighborhood. Parents have many choices as to where to send their children, but all Park homeowners benefit if the local public school provides a quality education. Thank you for your support!
SUPPORT OUR FUNDRAISERS
Each Spring, the Park School PTA holds its annual Walk-A-Jog event, followed by a community carnival. You can sponsor a child who will run laps to raise money, and join us at the carnival for fun prizes, games and laughs. Funds raised support field trips, classroom supplies, educational films, various events and projects, and other important activities for our children.
Each Fall, the PTA of Borel Middle School (the public middle school for our neighborhood) has a magazine subscription fundraiser. You can buy or renew magazine subscriptions at a discount and support these children.
HELP US WHILE YOU SHOP, AT NO COST TO YOU
eScrip is an automated program that provides money to schools every time you shop at Safeway, Draegers, Mollie Stones, and dozens of other stores. HELP PROVIDE MUSIC, SPORTS, LIBRARIES & TECHNOLOGY TO THE SCHOOLS
Many programs at the school are funded by the School District, which has been suffering a budget squeeze in recent years. Many enrichment programs that have in the past been funded by the district are now endangered as school funding continues to be under pressure. These programs include instrumental music, classroom music, after school sports at middle schools, and library aides and materials. Attend the annual Bids For Kids event in the Spring of each year. Bid on terrific items at the auction, or contribute items if you or your company are in a position to do so.
Our annual fundraising need has tripled in the last few years due to lack of funding from the state. You can actually make a difference and provide our children a quality well-rounded education.
Park School Foundation supports Park School directly by funding specific needs. The Foundation has focused on both technology, by purchasing computers, software, and other technology needs and funding a staff position to maintain and run the computer lab, and on other academic and enrichment areas, such as art, economics and sciences. The Foundation regularly sends requests to the residents of the school’s service area, requesting direct donations to keep these programs going. Please make a donation to the Foundation when you receive this request.
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
The gardening committee holds several workdays through the year, with the intention of beautifying the school and maintaining it as a focal point and asset to the neighborhood.
Reading to children and helping them with class work is sometimes needed. There are a number of activities which could use support.
ENLIST YOUR COMPANY’S HELP
Your company might be one of many that support charitable community giving. Companies often like to donate to causes that are supported by their employees. Talk to your charitable giving department, or call the Education Foundation to let us know where you work. Becoming a sustaining corporate donor to the district carries financial, business and community good will opportunities.

SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS AT THE BALLOT BOX
Public Education is not perfect, but there is no debating that schools are underfunded, teachers are not paid enough, and the cost of living in our area makes it very hard for schools to provide adequately for all the programs our children deserve. There are bond measures, parcel taxes and other opportunities to make our local schools more successful. Support our schools when you vote.
