Islands “On Deck”

The following islands are up next for a major cleanup.  The homeowners’ Association is soliciting bids from select, City approved tree care companies for this work.  Deadwood will be removed from the trees on these islands and indicated corrective work (such as tipping back limbs that are interfering with other trees’ growth) will be undertaken as well.  The specifications for work on each island were developed with Dennis Pawl, an arborist and the City of San Mateo’s Parks and Landscape Maintenance Manager.  As required, the Association will get permits from Dennis for this work, and he and another arborist on his staff, Mark Camfield, will be supervising the work in the field.  This investment by the Association of your dues and contributions to our island cleanup initiative will be a high quality effort that meets the standards of professional arborists, thanks to the partnership and quality control we receive from the City’s Parks Department.

These islands were chosen for investment in part because they each have a nearby Park resident who has volunteered to serve as the island’s representative.  He or she has committed to organize an active, volunteer effort to help the City maintain the revitalized island by keeping it weed and litter free.  If you live near one of these islands, or consider one to be “your” island, please pitch in and support your island representative when your help is solicited!
